Our mission

Boshra exists for one reason: to help the next generation of huffāẓ memorize the Quran with calm, patience, and care. We are a small group of parents, engineers, and students of the Book who kept hitting the same wall — there are not enough hours in the day, and there is not enough patience to go around, even for the families most committed to hifẓ.

We started Boshra because we needed it ourselves. Three of us have children at different stages of their hifẓ journey. We knew what the apps on the App Store today actually felt like to use, and we knew what they lacked: patience, reverence, and a methodology that respects the tradition Quran teachers have quietly refined for centuries.

What we believe

We believe the Quran is not a game. There are no leaderboards in Boshra, no notifications begging for attention, no streaks that shame a child for missing a day. The Book deserves better than the patterns of consumer software, and so does your family.

We believe technology should sit beside a teacher, not replace one. The teacher hears the heart of the recitation. The software handles the ledger — who reviewed which ayah when, what's due today, what's stable enough to leave alone. The two are not in competition.

We believe in spaced review because it works. The intervals huffāẓ have used for centuries — sabaq, sabqi, manzil — map almost exactly onto the forgetting curve modern cognitive science would later measure. Boshra builds on that tradition; it does not invent shortcuts to the Book.

What we are not

We are not a tafsir app, a translation app, or a recitation streaming service. There are excellent products in each of those categories, built by people we respect. Boshra is focused on one thing — memorization, for young learners — and we'd rather do that one thing well than spread thin.

Where we are

The iOS app is live on TestFlight. We're refining the experience with families and teachers before the App Store launch — you can join the beta now, and we'll write about the launch here on the journal.
